Computers are fantastic at finding identical pieces of data, but terrible at finding similar data. Part of the problem is first defining the term ‘similar’ in a given context. This talk will explore the many definitions found in the narrow field of computer forensics. We will discuss a generic solution like fuzzy hashing and then more specific methods for images and executables.
