BitLocker To Go Forensics
DoD Cyber Crime Conference, 2010

Slides (pdf)

BitLocker To Go is one of the many new features in Microsoft's Windows 7. The feature, which extends BitLocker to removable devices like USB keys, provides strong encryption that cannot practically be brute-forced. This talk will examine how BTG works and its applications for force protection. We'll also cover backwards compatibility with Windows Vista and Windows XP, and the two new types of access devices Windows 7 allows, passwords and smart cards. Finally we'll talk about the steps incident responders and forensic examiners need to take while processing BTG volumes.
