Practical Methods for Dealing with Full Disk Encryption
DoD Cyber Crime Conference, 2009

Slides (pdf)

The availability of Full Disk Encryption is a boon for personal privacy, but can cause problems for an investigator. This talk will look at these tools, how they protect their information, and what can be done to circumvent them. Although there are no magic backdoors, there are things an investigator can do with (and without) a computer! Topics covered will include the algorithms and modes used, terminology from each, where to look for recovery keys, and ideas for interrogating subjects.
